Odderoya tour

So Sunday was the day we went to Odderoya. It is a small half-isle right in front of Kristiansand, accessible by foot going over a landbridge. It is really a very special and quiet place where one can be on one's own, and it offered the best nature places Ive seen so far in Norway. There are some bunkers and batteries left at the isle from the Napoleonic Wars and World War II, although there has never been fighting around this part. I think our guide told us the cannons were fired just once, so they were practically never really used.

I did enjoy the "welcome" we had when going there, because it was the birthday of the crown prince or princess I think, and they were shooting the cannons to salute.

'nuff said, get ready for the pictures!

The entrance area and parking lot I think

We were told there's a graveyard there, but the stones and everything were removed. There was a quarantine center here, so many people died on Odderoya from diseases

View towards the city from one of the beaches

A very nice looking rock in the middle of the harbor area, and the city behind

Just love this kind of landscape

More rocks!

It really looks like in a painting

Walking through norwegian wilds

There are rocks here everywhere, even university is surrounded by it

Nice view. I dont know the name of this flowers, but they are all over the place. There are wild blueberries (very tasty!) here, too

Moved a bit up, as Odderoya is somewhat like a hill. You can see almost the whole city!

Overlooking the seaside

Norwegian forest

One of the bunkers. I really like how they are build into the rocks

Another example of the great combination of civilization and nature

Almost at the top!

Another bunker. Those are very impressive

I liked the atmosphere around here

Wild and raw nature. Almost looks like in the prehistoric age

A small lake, very idyllic

The same lake from another perspective

And it turns into a creek...

... no comment. just beautiful

I like the trees!

Another spectacular view. The chair you can spot on the rocks was put there by a local artist

The last picture I could take before my batteries died :)

Loved the place, so Im definitely going back there. At the top there is a nice little house where you can buy coffee, softdrinks and waffles. So stay tuned for more pictures of this lovely piece of nature!
