New update finally...

Ok guys, whoever follows this blog will have noticed there was no new postings in the last couple of days, but thats just because we are so busy here... not only with the actual studies, but also with some amazing activities and the like. Ive decided, at least for the moment, to summarize a bit more about the things going on here, meaning that I will try to put more stuff into one post, so its easier for me to put pictures and happenings together, and hopefully easier for you to follow and keep up... ;)

If this system doesnt work as I wish, however, I will probably be back to the long posts about single activities and days... but lets try if this is maybe a better format!

First off, to warm up a bit, I have some more awesome pictures of Kristiansand by night... I really like to go for a walk after sunset here, because there is an atmosphere unlike to any city of this size back home in Germany around here - it is just so quiet and peaceful after nightfall, that you dont even believe you are still in a city at all. Also, it is quite fun to explore the city and find some new routes and stuff, especially when the lighting is so different than from daytime...

This seems to be an office building of some sort of energy provider over here... but I think the canal right in front of the building is quite eye-catching...

Looking back from the same position as above... the highway bridge of Kristiansand can be seen in the background. It leads from a tunnel into a tunnel and I think its the way to reach the highway to Oslo...

Just some slow shutter speed glory at the river banks :) by the way: view towards the city/city centre

My favorite shot I think... Moonshine, clouds, and some city lights just arranged themselves perfectly.. or maybe I just pressed the button at the right time...

A view from the city centre side back to Lund, the part of the city where I live in... in the far distance you can see Lundbrua, the bridge we usually cross over, and to the left is the energy office building I pictured before..

Again, this time with some detail of the highway bridge to the left... you can use it by foot and on a bicycle, too.

A shot from Lundbrua on the way back home. The far bridge is the highway bridge I have just been half an hour before!

Ok, so some days after this evening walk we decided to use a special student offer allowing us to also taste some of the "nightlife" of Kristiansand, but not something like clubbing or going to a bar but rather to have a nice dinner out. We decided to go to a restaurant called "Mississippi", serving Creole and Cajun cuisine, as 80 % of the other restaurants participating in the student special rather concentrated on elaborate versions of fast food, like tacos, pizza and burgers. The meal was indeed really good and it was a nice evening, I wish we could have that special offer over the whole semester, but it just lasted for one week - 100 NOK for a meal out here are pretty cheap (roughly 14 €). Fun fact in terms of comparison: I walked past some kebap restaurants here, and there you get a Döner (very popular back home) for JUST 75 NOK, which is triple of German price (3,50 € vs. 10,50 €).

This is the place!!

After a rather long waiting time (as most of us skipped lunch to enjoy this great dinner and we were really hungry), the food finally arrives... ah yes, we had some quarrels with the waiter, too, he seemed a bit stressed and schizophrenic, but everything turned out fine in the end! Puh!

I think this was something like spicy Chicken...

Very tasty fish...

And some beef!!! It came with something called rotmos, which is mashed potatoes mixed with carrots, and the potato wedges you see are called batpoteter, which translates to "boat potatoes", because the shape looks like a boat... was tasty, indeed!

Snapshot while dining... thx to Lisa :)

Another shot of the table and the guys while enjoying the food!!

And finally... satisfied French girls smiling after dinner!! :p

So this is it so far from the civilised side of Kristiansand... up next is some wildlife and nature adventures!!!
